To my eyes, the light from LEDs seems harsh and glarey. I don't know any more precise way to describe it, though I wish I did. Am I the only one to see it this way?

LEDs are not all the same. I agree that there are some LEDs that, in my opinion, are harsh. However, there are many LED light fixtures that I believe are very good. For example, I have used the 6-inch LED Downlight Module in my kitchen over my sink (2700K color temperature) and I thought it was great.

While the LED market continues to mature there will be a huge difference in the quality of both the LED fixture itself and the quality of the light the LED produces. We have the following statement on our website regarding LEDs...

"Research continues to improve the brightness, the efficacy, and the life span of LEDs at a remarkable pace. However, Pegasus Associates Lighting continues to be cautious about which LEDs and LED fixtures it brings to the market place because we want our customers to be pleased with our LED lighting products both today and tomorrow. We suggest that you be cautious as well."

Yes, that sounds like the wise way for everyone to go, checking out each particular LED light before jumping on the bandwagon. I know that the first LED night lights I got some years ago (elsewhere) were found to be glaring into our eyes without lighting our way very well, and yet now I've recently purchased an LED night light with louvers so it doesn't glare nearly as much. Though, still, I've had to move it to a low spot because one at counter height was too much in our eyes in the dark of night. So, things are evolving.
